BMR backup is not updating restore images

I need a solution

Hi,

I have a Hyper - V core Windows and i am taking all guest machines of Hyper-V servers from NBU 7.5.0.5. I am taking a BMR backup in which NBU is taking all images of the Hyper-V guest machines and when i see in the backup images there are .vhd and .avhd files are over there.

Now when i try t restore this BMR backup all restored successffully but it does not restore .avhd files it means it only restores vhd files.

In short, BMR restores runs successfully but it doesnot restores updated snapshots of Hyper-V.

REgards,

Sajid

Hi

I have a straightforward question regardng Backup Exec 2012.

I was not able to find any specific document on a redirected restore of a single databse from an SQL cluster backup. Is the restore procedure the same as a redirected restore from a single SQL server backup? Any link will be also aprretiated.

Thanks

I was wondering if there were any updated Visio stencils for the new 5x3x series, the 5400 and the final configs for the 5220? The last set I have is from back in 2011.

the way to prevision the storage for deduplication disk pool

I need a solution

1. Here is what I am thinking the way it is: to prevision a big lun in SAN storage, ex, 20TB on NetApp filer to the media server, then Dedup Disk Pool could be created on this lun. am I right?

2. I read a doc, and it says that I can use for instance 4 media servers, and  they all share the same disk pool. If my assumption as above is correct, how could I present the same LUN to these 4 different media server?

3. Does anybody have "step-by-step screenshots" to configure storage server, dedup disk pool and storage unit?

If I can get idea on these questoins, it'd be very helpful for me to understand Dedup configurations. Thank you in advance!

opscenter displaying client as a dash "-"

I need a solution

hi

we use opscenter as our primary reporting tool for backups

i have a problem where the report is displaying a client as a dash as in -

the client name is correct within netbackup itself

i have had a look in the opcenter setting to see if it has a alias so i could use the object merger but i cannot find any records in the alias or object merger that is just a dash

the client with the error has never been known as anything else so its not like the system is using an old name for it

i have restarted opscenter multiple times and done some searching online with no luck

we are running server 2008 r2 with opscenter 7.5.0.5

thanks

I have Backup Exec 2010 R3 running on a windows 2008 server

- The server has (2) 1tb drives in a Raid 1 config.

I have several Windows 7 computers

I am doing a FULL backup followed by scheduled DIFFERINTAL backups

Why are the Backups at about 30gb for both and still rising??

I'm not really one to take to forums to voice a complaint, but I definately am this time.

Symatec, you've just lost the plot.

Background:   Client of ours is using BE12.5; actually, this product is good.  Works. No real issues except we now need to include several DB servers in the backup strategy.... Hence began the nightmare that IS Symantec.

Of course, getting any agents for deprecated software isn't possible.  So, being the ever so thoughtful professional, I decided to embark on "The upgrade"

Well, the entire process has been a complete, dismal failture --- right from attempting to download the trial software onward.

The trial software downloads as a corrupt ZIP file regardless of how you do it or how you attempt to extract it.  After many attemps we finally decided that since we had to upgrade anyway, the solution for us was to remove Symantec from the equation and go with CA.

So, Symantec, you've now lost us as a customer.  Fix your stuff please; starting with your 'trial' and then move on to your products in general.

Is Symantec System Recovery 2013 Compatible with Windows 8.1when it comes out. If not is it going to be as a update.

SSR 2011 and dual booting windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04

I need a solution

HI all,

Just seeking some clarification on whether there are any known issues of restoring a windows 7 64-bit image in a dual boot system.

I dual boot win7 ultimate and ubuntu 12.04 - they are both on separate physical hard disks but I currently load into the Ubuntu hard disk and run windows 7 as a default from the GRUB bootloader.

  • I am very keen to protect my windows 7 system and would like to know if I create an image of windows 7 in the above configuration will it lead to problems when I need to recover?
  • Would it be better if while creating the image in SSR 2011 I boot directly to the win7 hard disk, then reset my boot configuration to the above once the image is created?

Interested to know if anyone has any advice on this.

Cheers

Manually Create Offsite Copy Of Base Full Backup

I need a solution

Hello,

I just setup an offsite network storage drive for offsite backups.  The whole thing works pretty good, except that I use incremental backup, and the first full backup is over 100 GB, which just isn't feasible to transfer over a 20 Mbps connection.

Here is my question:  If I manually copy and paste the full backup onto my network storage drive via a portable hard drive, will system recovery honor that copy and just continue on with the incremental backups?  In other words, I would put the inital full backup on the network drive manually.

Just wondering if anyone out there has any best practices that would be helpful.

Thanks!

Justin

Backup Exec 2012 does not open

I need a solution

I am having a strange issue after having rebooted my Backup Exec 2012 server. I am not able to open the console and I get the message

'Windows cannot find 'C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\BackupExec.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.'

I tried running a repair with the installation, however it does not succeed. All the services seems to be running.

Please help!

thanks

Upgrade NBU from 7.1.0.4 to 7.5.0.6, with some client-server using 7.5.0.6

I do not need a solution (just sharing information)

Hello guys,

Im planning to upgrade my NBU environment, from 7.1.0.4 to 7.5.0.6.

Scenario:

Master Server: Solaris 10. NBU version 7.1.0.4

Media Servers: 6 servers, 2 W2K R2 and 4 Solaris 10. All at NBU 7.1.0.4

Some client servers with 7.5.0.6 (because those are windows 2012) of course I know this is not supported by Symantec, due Master/media are lower than client version. But im just bit courious whats going to be happen, when the upgrade time, with the metadata images migration.

Should I open a Symantec call? Or should I revert the client version to 7.1.0.4? What could be the worst case?

Comments, are very welcome.

Cheers
