Netbackup replication Director for Vmware NFS support with 7.5.0.6

Hi Team,

I need help for below statement which is mentioned in 7.5.0.6 release, Actually we have requirement to configure Replicaiton Director backup for Vmware NFS datastores. We have our master and media with 7.5.0.6 and upgrade is not possible at this moment. Kindly confirm anybody has done this configuration with 7.5.0.6

To use Replication Director to manage your VMware snapshots and
snapshot replication with SQL Server 2012, logon account changes may be
required. Logon accounts for the NetBackup Client Service must have access
to the CIFS shares that are created on the NetApp disk array.

Hi,

I'm unable to restore backups for a VM via the BAR console. It is basically a file server. I can see the Backups in the time line view mode, however I am unable to restore any one of them.(Screenshots are given below)

I've tried this from both the Master Server and the client, however both give the same error.

Warning shown in the BAR Console:

VM: KVM

NBU Master and Media Server: Windows Server 2008 Standard

My NBU Master and Media server are the same.

VM Client Server: Windows Server 2012

Source and Destination client Hostnames are same, and NBU Server Hostname is also same as the one when taking backups.

Symantec backup exec 2014 Exchange restore Restore - Exchange Database

I need a solution

I have been trying to complete a restore for a Exchange Server  backup on both the mailbox and individual level have not been successful.  I have received different errors or different results.

I would like to know if there is a way, to move the following staging directory "$Backup Exec Default Data$" from the "C" drive to a different volume/Drive that has more then enough space to handle the staging data dump?  I have tried the following suggestion to no avail.

  1. The Windows Registry fix which forces the "OnHostTemp" value to force the writing to a different drive/volume and it was a no go
  2. I have changed the GRT settings as picture below:

I read a tech notes that I could use BEUtility and move the "$Backup Exec Default Data$" from it's default location to a different location, is this true?

118 VxSS authorization failed

Hello everybody,

I have configured last two years a DataDomain storage with OST integrated with Netbackup.  At this moment when I try to deleted expired backups "nbdelete -allvolumes" --> Image cleaning job i got the error (118) VxSS authorization failed .

I started getting this error this Monday.

I not using NBAC.

I would like te get answer to this questions.

How can I view the logs regarding the Image cleaning?

Why I get this error?

I need a solution

I had a question in regards to this upgrade. I am currently running 7.6.0.1 in two different environments. One of them being DR so I replicated via AIR from one to the other. My question is can I upgrade one without upgrading the other or do they both need to be done at the same time?

List Images On DiskPool Before Phase I Import

I need a solution

Is there a way to query a diskpool to get a list of images on it before I initiate a Phase I import? 
I am hesitant to run the Phase I import until I have time to finish the Phase II import as I have been burned in the past where NBU will expire the images off disk because the Phase I sets a 1 week retention on the images in the catalog.
The diskpool I want to query if from a legacy NBU environment that has been decommisioned.
 

I was hoping I could use bpstsinfo to grab the info, but it requires a mediaid which isn't created until Phase I

In one of our client machine, Full backup failed  often with the error code 40 .  Restart NBU services,No luck .Any suggestion to fix the issue .

Can someone recommend good NAS choices for Backup Exec 2012

Hi All,

Our company recently purchased a Western Digital MyCloud device (what a mistake). We have given up on backing up data from this device. We would like to move to a NAS solution but are very unsure of which brand and model to go with. For anybody using a NAS to backup from (onto external usb drives), could you please let me know which brand and model number of NAS that you have and what you do and don't like about it? I'm leanings towards a Synology brand NAS but they make a bunch of different models. We would like to stay around the $500 price (without drives) but would be willing to spend up to $800 if the jump in budget buys a much better product.

Symantec DLO migration

Hi,

We're in the process of migrating our domain to another. We have Symantec DLO on our systems.

Post migration of systems to new domain, the DLO throws up an error "No settings found for the current user...." -> this is understandable and deleting and re-adding the user in the DLO console helps.

But the actual problem is after we re-add them -> Will it again start a new fresh backup? What are my options to prevent this and continue with existing delta backups.

Dismantling HP VLS9000 - how to clear netbackup

I need a solution

Hello,

I dismantled an old VL9000 and I would like to remove everything about this hardware from netbackup. 

All virtual tapes are in the scratch volume pool (no more used data on the VLS), several mediaservers was using the VLS and everything are still configured on the netbackup side. I dont know what are the steps to dismantle properly everything.

is there any maximum limit for Client_read_timeout

Hi,we have an issue where the restore is being failed as there are file with large size(approx 15GB) but the writing speed is only 5MB/sec. So we suggested to increase the value of client_read_timeout to 14400 as the values 1440,3600,7200 didn't give succsessful backups.The restore is successful for the value 14400.Could you please let us know if there is any maximum limit for the client_read_timeout value?

How to install ONLY NBU Java Admin Console on Unix/Linux

I need a solution

It seems you can install just the NBU Java Admin Console on Windows, but on UNIX you have to install the whole client.  Does anyone know how you can install just the client and if technically it works on Ubuntu.

On the SCL, Ubuntu or Debian Linux is not mentioned, but it is mentioned as a client and in the client Debian2.6.18 directory there is a NB-Java.tar.gz which suggests (to me anyway) there is a java GUI available and the forum post  https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/netbackup-java-administration-console-intelfreebsd reckons it is possible, but the links to technotes don't work.

I have NBU master and media install in a VM on my laptop, but the VM is a cut-down O/S without X windows as I don't need X-windows as the O/S on my laptop is Ubuntu (hence can't use Windows Java GUI) and so X-windws is built into client O/S

The SCL also says:

The NetBackup Java Administration Console is an interface to configure and manage NetBackup installed on the same machine. The interface can run on any NetBackup Java-capable system.

So I would think it should work, but as a starting point I have installed a Redhat server VM with X-windows and am try to install the Java GUI only but, neither "install_client" or extract_java work, and I have tried just installing the SYMCnbjava and SYMCnbjre rpms and this gives the same  "no Vmangle in java.library.path" error as in forum post link above.

The VCS java GUI is not supported on Ubuntu either, but this was a piece of cake to install in Ubuntu and works just fine, so I was hoping the same would be true for NBU GUI.

Restoring Backup Exec data from another site -

I need a solution

We have 3 sites with the current setup.  

site one

backup server 2012

Tape device backup

Data domain -Dedupe backup

site two

Backup server 2012 Central server administration edition

Data domain -dedupe backup

site three

Backup Server 2012

Data Domain Backup-dedupe.

Tape device backup

If one site goes down lets say site one and I need to restore server from Tape backup at site three. I would need to move the tapes from site one to site three then do a inventory and catalog and then do a restore.   But that will take around 8 hours to do 10 1.6T Tape catalog...is there a better or faster way to accomplish this. Is there a way i can copy or sync the catalog from one server to another and when i insert the tapes into another site and when i do an inventory it automatically recongizes the whats in the tapes and shows me the servers(which are not originally in site 3) in the backup and restore tape. Someone told me another way to do a Datadomain replication and get a dedupe boost licensen and somehow the backup server on all sites will know if one Datadomain is down then to use data from another Datadomain device.  Basically i want another way to restore server to another site without doing long task of running catalog.
